You've heard of the saying, "writer's block," right? Well it's totally a thing in quilting, too.
I have a really exciting art show coming up that I am frantically preparing and getting ready for, and I have all these ideas in my mind, but when it comes to actually making something, I have totally froze and can't think of any of my ideas. I've even written them down to keep track, but then when I look at them again, they just don't make sense. I think that's kind of the theme of my day today. When making today's block, I was trying to think of anything that happened exciting today, and nothing really came to mind. I just keep hitting this wall-- or what I call quilter's block! So, instead, I took today's block with the approach of "anything goes." I picked one of my most favorite fabrics in my stash and selected a coordinating piece to go with it.
To me, it still does represent something meaningful. There have been many times where I have wanted to give up on something in life. However, I always remind myself that even when you think you can't do something, just keep working at it and push through it, and it will still end up okay in the end. I selected blue today because blue often represents tranquility. I am reminding myself not to freak out during this process of preparing for an art show, but instead keep calm and enjoy the process. I know it will all work out, but for now, I just need to keep telling myself to "just keep swimming."
